Course details:
Rands offers English language tuition programmes all year round.
A selection of courses is available for you to choose the best one for you. Courses are for all levels from beginners to advanced.
Courses are designed according to a detailed scheme of work. Lessons cover all of the four language skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking. You will also study pronunciation and grammar.
Rands teaching is for students of 18 years and above.
Your timetable at Rands will be 15 teaching hours a week Monday to Friday, either mornings between 09:00 and 12:20 or afternoons between 13:15 and 16:35 pm.
This will include tutorial time when you can talk to your teacher about your progress and discuss how you can use your study time well while you are here in England. The maximum class size will be 12 students in each group.
If you want, it is possible to arrange lessons by the hour.
The following courses are available:
English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
This course will enable you to improve your English in all four skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking. You will also work on your grammar and pronunciation. Develop your confidence in using English as you learn and practise with other students and in your daily life while in the UK.
English as a Foreign Language plus University of Cambridge ESOL Examination (EFL+UC Exam)
This course offers all that the EFL course offers and also enables you to work towards gaining an internationally recognised University of Cambridge ESOL qualification in KET, PET, FCE, CAE or CPE. You will do exam preparation so that you get to know the structure of the exam really well.

Cambridge ESOL Exams
You can study for the Cambridge ESOL exams with Rands. These include KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE. These qualifications are the world's leading certificates for learners of English. Each year they are taken by over 2 million people, in 130 countries. They can help you gain entrance to a university or college, improve your job prospects and measure your progress in English. The Cambridge ESOL examinations are recognised by thousands of employers, universities & colleges, professional bodies and ministry & government organisations throughout the world. IELTS Preparation plus Exam (IELTS + Exam)
This course is focused solely on gaining an IELTS qualification. You will do academic writing, academic vocabulary and lots of practise of past exam papers. When you do the IELTS exam, you will be very well prepared. This course is suitable for students who intend to study at a British University.

IELTS
You can study for IELTS at Rands. IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It measures your ability to communicate in English across all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking. It is for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication.

Summer School (SS)
The Rands Summer School takes place in July and August. Students can study English as a Foreign Language (EFL) for 15 hours a week for a minimum of two weeks up to a maximum of 6 weeks. Summer School students have a social and cultural programme included with excursions to the local cities and countryside such as York, Manchester, Liverpool and the Lake District. It is great fun and helps you to get to know the other international students and practise your English. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) preparation classes will be available for students who want to take an IELTS examination in order to progress to other courses in September.
